It was written by famed Bollywood composer A.R. Rahman who also won an Oscar for his Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack. He also makes a cameo appearance in the music video. The movie, Slumdog Millionaire, directed by British director Danny Boyle and starring Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, won a total of eight 2009 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director. The Pussycat Dolls Jai Ho remix features new English language vocals by frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger and was produced by Polow Da Don in collaboration with composer A.R. Rahman.
It’s an honor to be able to collaborate with A.R. Rahman and be a part of the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ project in any way,” Scherzinger said in a statement. “The movie, the story and the music [were] a gift and very spiritually uplifting for me. … I can only hope and pray ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ and my version of ‘Jai Ho’ (‘You Are My Destiny’) touches and connects people all around the world.”

The music video was shot in an abandoned train station museum in Vienna, Austria during a blizzard.
“Somehow the energy and love of the songs shined through and it was as if we were just an extension of where the movie took off at the end,” Sherzinger says.
In her interview with Popeater, Nicole Scherzinger went on to share her thoughts about the movie.
I thought the movie was unbelievably powerful and life changing. The story was unlike any other story I’d ever seen before. I felt it could touch and make an impact on anyone no matter who you are or where you are from. The characters and the heart and soul of the movie and the music truly inspired me. It was such a great honor to be able to re-write my own version of the lyrics to ‘Jai Ho’ — ‘You are my Destiny.’”
