A First Lady Michelle Obama comic book will be released by Bluewater Productions, as part of the Female Force Comics series. See the cover and video here.

President Barack Obama was famously featured in Spider-Man comic book, issue (See: Barack Obama Spider-Man Comic). Now it is the First Lady’s turn.

The comic book will be a biography of Michelle Obama, revealing her life story from childhood on the South Side of Chicago to the nation’s first African-American First Lady. She appears on the cover in her signature look, bearing arms in a sleeveless black dress. The cover artist is Vinnie Tartamella. The Washington, DC based Bluewater Productions will release the 22-page Michelle Obama comic book on April 25, 2009 with a $3.99 cover price. While the company has had sellouts with previous comic books in the series which include Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to the Chicago Tribune, the demand for the not-yet-published comic book has been so intensive that distributors have temporarily stopped taking orders while Bluewater Productions catches up with it.

“I feel like the guy who invented the Furby,” Bluewater President Darren Davis said. “The reaction has been insane.”

In creating an image of new First Lady, Michelle Obama, artist Vinnie Tartamella stated:

[I]t was my goal to represent her class, beauty and intelligence. I hope I reflected these qualities and characteristics in this historical piece. I’m truly honored to have been asked to create this.
