Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto graces the cover of March 2009  Maxim India and is featured in a photo shoot.  See the photos and video here.

Model turned actress Pinto who made her film debut in  Slumdog Millionaire, winner of eight Oscar Awards, has been much in demand as a cover girl with appearances on the cover of Vogue India,  Cosmopolitan India, Anokhi, and Entertainment Weekly (with co-star Dev Patel).

In Slumdog Millionaire she portrayed Latika, the long-lost love of the movie’s main character, Jamal Malik, (Dev Patel), the 18-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who wins India’s version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,’ and then, under suspicion of cheating is arrested.

Recently, Hollywood’s newest A-list actress has been at Milan Fashion Week 09, where she has been seen and photographed with  Scarlett Johansson, Kate Hudson, Claudia Schiffer and others.  Pinto is set to star in the forthcoming Woody Allen movie which will also star Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins.

Pinto discussed her new fame in a recent interview.

“It’s a blessing and I need to learn to relish and savour each moment, so that’s what I’m doing. And, most importantly, I have to breathe! [...]

“The baffled look Dev Patel’s character Jamal had when he won the money in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is pretty much my expression any time I see an A-lister on the red carpet!

“I am trying to enjoy it all as much as I can, because this is an once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
