President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama grace the cover of People Magazine January 2009 Inauguration Special issue which hits newsstands January 23, 2009. See the cover, recent photos, video here. Several stories recap the Inauguration, the Inaugural balls, and all the celebrations surrounding the historic event and the activities which daughters Sasha and Malia took part in (including their surprise visit from the Jonas Brothers during their Inauguration night slumber party). The cover story seeks to find out what life in the White House will be like for the new First Family.
People Magazine uncovered some facts about White House life including…
• Except for Uncle Sam-funded official dinners, all meal, drink and dry cleaning bills go to the First Family, to be taken out of the president’s $400,000 annual salary.
• Take-out food can be delivered, in addition to what’s available from the fully stocked White House kitchen.
• Yes, there are locks and keys … but the president doesn’t unlock them. The Secret Service does.
