Robert Downey Jr Men’s Vogue Spring 2009 Cover

Robert Downey Jr graces the cover of Men’s Vogue Spring 2009.  The Academy Award nominated star is handsomely attired in a tailored suit.   Condé Nast has recently announced that Men’s Vogue will be scaled back to a twice-yearly publication; the spring issue will be a  reverse-bound issue attached to the April issue of Vogue; the first time Vogue has published a reverse cover.

Tom Florio, senior vice president and publishing director of Vogue, Teen Vogue and Men’s Vogue, said April is a good month for the partnership, since Vogue carries more jewelry brands during that month, playing to Men’s Vogue’s core competencies in watches and luxury accessories.

The forthcoming Men’s Vogue will coincide with the release date of Robert Downey Jr.’s next movie, The Soloist, April 24, 2009, in which he portrays L.A. Times columnist Steve Lopez in the fact-based drama, with costar Jamie Foxx portraying the homeless mentally ill Julliard trained musician, Nathaniel Anthony Ayers, whom Lopez befriended and wrote about in several stories for the L.A. Times. See Steve Lopez on Nathaniel Anthony Ayers.  See also Lopez’s recent interview with the star: Robert Downey Jr. on his re-creationist theory.
