President-elect Barack Obama is on the cover of issue #583 of The Amazing Spider-Man and featured in a story that centers around Inauguration Day. See the cover and panels here of the special issue from Marvel that goes on sale January 14, 2009.
The cover art is by Phil Jimenez. In the story by Zeb Wells, Todd Nauck and Frank D’Armata, Spider-Man’s nemesis Chameleon, tries to prevent Obama from being inaugurated as President. But Spider-Man’s alter ego Peter Parker is covering the Inauguration as a reporter realizes what is happening and saves the day.
Marvel Comic Editor in Chief Joe Quesada discussed the issue.
“When we heard that President-elect Obama is a collector of Spider-Man comics, we knew that these two historic figures had to meet in our comics’ Marvel Universe,” he said in a release. “A Spider-Man fan moving into the Oval Office is an event that must be commemorated in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man.”
Obama, a comic book collector, told Entertainment Weekly last year: “I was always into the Spider-Man/Batman model. The guys who have too many powers–like Superman–that always made me think they weren’t really earning their superhero status. It’s a little too easy. Whereas Spider-Man and Batman, they have some inner turmoil. They get knocked around a little bit.”

Barack Obama and John McCain comic book biographies by Andy Helfer and Jeff Mariotte were published during the 2008 Presidential election. Several presidents have appeared in comic books; Richard Nixon in “Watchmen,” Ronald Reagan in “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns,” Bill Clinton in “Superman: The Man of Steel,” and Jimmy Carter appears on the cover of “Superman vs. Muhammad Ali.”
John F. Kennedy appeared in Action Comics #309 in 1963, when he helped protect Clark Kent’s secret identity.
“If I can’t trust the president of the United States, who can I trust?” Superman tells Kennedy.
That issue appeared a week after Kennedy was assassinated. DC Comics had to explain later that it was too late to recall the book.

Another person trying to make a dollar and idolizing Obama. Real life politicians or anyone should stay out of comics. Whatever happened to making up unique character?

Obamaman, Obamaman,
Does whatever Obama can
Spins a web, any size,
Catches fools just like flies
Look Out!
Here comes Obamaman.
Is he cool? Listen bud,
He’s got Kenyan Muslim blood.
Can he twist all your words?
Spin his web for the media girls
Hey, there
There goes Obamaman.
In the chill of night
At the scene of a crime
Like a streak of light
Obama arrives just in time.
Obamaman, Obamaman
Chicago neighborhood Obamaman
Wealth and fame, he’s adored
Socialism is your reward.
To him, America’s just a hang up
Needing a Marxist Bang-Up
Here comes Obamamaaaan
