Here is the official music video for Alexandra Burke’s “Hallelujah” along with promo photos  The soul singer won Simon Cowell’s The X Factor 2008 on December 13, 2008 with her stirring rendition of the Leonard Cohen classic as her final song in the ITV1 talent show in the UK, which is similar in format to American Idol in the U.S.

Alexandra Burke is 20 years old, from north London where she was raised by her mother Melissa Bell who was a member of the 1980s group Soul II Soul.

Burke says she owes her mother everything. “Mum introduced me to some of the greatest singers – Gladys Knight, Al Green, Whitney, Mariah, Aretha – and whenever she was on tour I’d always be listening to them. And her.”

At nine she accompanied her mother to Bahrain, and in one show Bell handed her a microphone. And that was it. “I knew I wanted to sing from the age of five, but that was the first time I got that kick. I sang You Might Need Somebody by Randy Crawford. Absolutely love that song. My gosh! God, I’m in a BMW!!” She burst out laughing.

With her powerhouse voice and physical beauty she is already being compared to music superstar Leona Lewis who got her start as an X Factor winner two years ago.

Statistics alone show Alexandra Burke’s career is off to a spectacular start.  The download single, “Hallelujah” has broken sales records in Europe, with more than 105,000 copies sold since it went on sale at midnight on December 14, less than two hours after she became the fifth season winner.

The hefty download sale has already put Burke at the top of internet sales charts, including iTunes and HMV.com, with the CD version of the single not out until Wednesday.

Burke’s sale eclipsed the previous fastest download of 82,000 in one day — the previous X Factor winner Leona Lewis’s debut release, A Moment Like This, two years ago.

By comparison, Take That’s recent No 1 single Greatest Day sold 9,488 downloads on its first day, while Girls Aloud’s chart-topping hit The Promise sold 7,600 downloads on the day of its release.

Gennaro Castaldo, an HMV spokesman, said: “We’re seeing a phenomenal rush to download the Hallelujah single from our website. It’s both our fastest and biggest-ever selling download, and Alexandra already has the Christmas No 1 all wrapped up.
