Jamie Foxx made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on December 12, 2008 for an interview and performance “Just Like Me” the lead single from his third studio album Intuition, set for release December 16, 2008.   The single was produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.

During the lively, wide-ranging interview, the Academy Award winning actor and singer did a hilarious impression of President-elect Barack Obama, and talked about his early beginnings as a comedian.  As a fourth grader, he said that he did jokes from The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and he did his impression of former President Jimmy Carter as an example. He also talked about his recent Men’s Fitness Magazine December 2008 cover photo and photo shoot.  He said that he aspires to be the first black James Bond and did  impressions of James Bond as James Brown and as Mike Tyson might portray him.

Regarding “Just Like Me” Jamie Foxx explained in a recent print interview.

“‘Just Like Me ‘is a track that The-Dream wrote. Actually Usher recorded the record, and when he didn’t take the record because he was changing gears and married and everything, I was like: ‘I’ll take the record.’Because I think it’s a smash and it’s a beautiful, like, fun record. Like, Brett Ratner shot the video, he heard the record, said I gotta shoot your video, I got a great idea for the video. So we did a funny video with Taraji Henson.”

Jamie Foxx costars in the forthcoming movie The Soloist, alongside Robert Downey, Jr.  in theaters April 24, 2009.   He portrays Nathaniel Anthony Ayers, a Julliard trained musician who becomes mentally ill and homeless and is befriended by LA Times columnist Steve Lopez (Downey) in a true story based on Lopez’s articles.
