“Stand By Me” is from Mark Johnson’s award-winning documentary, “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music.” It is the first of the “songs around the world” being released independently. The video is a compilation of musicians around the world performing a cover of the Ben E. King classic. The documentary has been shown at the TriBeCa Film Festival, the Maui Film Festival, and The San Francisco Black International Film Festival, among others. Future “songs around the world” will include “One Love” and will be released as digital downloads. The film soundtrack and DVD are set for release in early 2009.
Bill Moyers recently interviewed Mark Johnson on PBS. Watch the video and see the transcript on PBS Bill Moyers Journal Web site.
