President-elect Barack Obama is on the cover of Ebony Magazine January 2009 issue.  The special collector’s edition, titled “Mr President.  Person of the Year,”  has the first print interview Obama gave after the historic election and exclusive photos.

Ebony has produced two covers; the Ebony logo will have a gold background on the cover that subscribers will receive. The magazine will be on newsstands December 9, 2008.

The issue includes sections on Barack’s Chicago: How a City Shaped a Man, as well as, First Lady Style: Michelle Obama’s Eclectic Taste.

Ebony says the exclusive interview is the centerpiece of its special collector’s edition, which chronicles the rise of Barack Obama to one of the most powerful positions in the world.

“We won because the American people mobilized for change. We had a great campaign, great volunteers, great staff. But it really was people at a grassroots level who carried our campaign financially, who carried it organizationally, and we don’t want that to dissipate, Obama said during a Nov. 13 exclusive interview.

Barack Obama magazine covers have been numerous both before and after the election, a trend which will likely continue as history unfolds. Here is a compilation video of some of the Obama magazine covers which preceded the historic election, set to Moby’s “Everyday It’s 1989.”
