Beyonce made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, for an interview and a live performance of her hit single, “If  I Were a Boy,” from her forthcoming third studio album, I Am…Sasha Fierce, in stores November 18, 2008.

In a wide-ranging and entertaining interview, Beyonce shared a few details of her personal life, including her marriage to Jay-Z, when Oprah asked her, “How did you find time to get married?”  She talked about finding boundaries and balance, and acknowledged that she does not talk about her marriage but wants to keep her personal life pure and real separate from her life as a performer.  Oprah asked her if she enjoyed being a wife.  Beyonce said it was important to make sure you have your own life before you become someone else’s wife.  She said the wedding was “very private” and “very beautiful,” and, stopping herself, said, “I’m already saying too much.”

Beyonce also talked about the hard work needed to achieve her success and the sacrifices she had to make growing up; she even missed her high school prom.  She talked about her onstage personna Sasha Fierce, comparing it to what an actor goes through in donning makeup and costume and becoming a character.  She also discussed what it was like portraying legendary singer Etta James in the forthcoming movie Cadillac Records –especially the challenge of the intensely dramatic scenes involving the character’s battle with heroin addiction.  The highly anticipated musical biopic will be released in theater December 5, 2008.
