Here is a new promo photo for Britney Spears’ highly anticipated sixth studio album Circus set for release on December 2, 2008. Also newly released is a six-track “Beat the Leak” mix featuring “Womanizer,” “Circus,” “Out From Under,” “Kill the Lights,” “If U Seek Amy” and “Unusual You.” The preview can be heaerd via New York Radio station WKTU.
Additionally, Amazon.com is now featuring 30-second clips of all of the album’s 15 tracks.

Industry watchers wonder whether Spears, 26, can win back the young, fickle fans now accustomed to watching her fall apart, or if she can stage a comeback like pop diva Mariah Carey. She spent several years in a slump before rebounding to charttopper status with 2005 album “The Emancipation of Mimi.”
“You can only have so many second chances and this is definitely one of those now or never moments,” said Ellen Carpenter, a senior editor at Spin magazine. […]
As the sexy young pop star who sold more than 60 million records in her heyday gave way to an erratic, disheveled divorcee, her musical and personal obituary was being written.
“Last year, it didn’t seem like she would ever come out of it. Her falling apart was bigger than anybody, even Michael Jackson. I don’t know if anyone in pop music has fallen that low and come back,” Carpenter said.

“Kill the Lights” the second single from Circus. The song was written by Marcella Araica, Luke Boyd, Nathaniel Hills and James Washington and was produced by Danja and Jim Beanz. The official music video has not yet been released, but the official Britney Spears Web site has posted a stylish, well-crafted fan made “Kill the Lights” video that makes use of footage from previous music videos.

The song is a haunting dance track reminiscent of “Piece of Me” in subject matter — addressing paparazzi, hence “kill the lights”– and features two intros.
Danja intro: “Ladies and Gentlemen, we interrupt our program of dance music to bring you a special bulletin from the intercontinental radio news. Our very own pop princess, now queen of pop, has a special announcement she would like to make.”
Britney intro: “You’re in. I think I’m ready for my close up. Yeah.”
