Video: SNL Presidential Bash John McCain Sarah Palin Saturday Night Live 11-3-08

The Republican Presidential campaign ticket, Senator John McCain and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin both made cameo appearances on Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash on November 3, 2008, a retrospective program of Presidential election skits from current and past seasons.

In the cold open skit, John McCain introduced us to “Joe the Network Programmer” and urged us to vote even if we vote for his opponent, once again demonstrating a congenial, comedic style which he has used to advantage in the past.

Sarah Palin, in contrast, delivered a confrontational monologue which introduced us to the “Palin Doctrine”….

Anyway, as I said, I have no problem with the show making fun of me. It’s part of our great political tradition that no candidate for office is above criticism. However I should warn you that come Jan. 20 when I am sworn in as vice president, you guys better knock this off, otherwise we’ll have to get NBC’s broadcast license revoked.

Oddly, Palin came across as genuinely malevolent, without a trace of “Joe Six Pack,” “You betcha” folksiness.

Here is a montage of some of the highlights of political skits from the present and previous seasons, (including Barack Obama’s appearance on SNL in October 2007) as introduced by SNL cast members, Darrell Hammond, as John McCain and Fred Armisen as Barack Obama.
