Video: Charles Alexander, Born in 1922, Meets Barack Obama

In this emotionally moving video, Charles Alexander, born in 1922, a Barack Obama campaign volunteer in Bolder, Colorado  wins a raffle and gets to meet the Democratic Presidential candidate at a rally in Denver, Colorado on October 26, 2008.

In an interview, Charles Alexander shares a bit of his personal history; his memories go back to the the Great Depression.  He says he has been a Democrat all of his life because he saw what President Franklin Delano Roosevelt accomplished in his first days in office.  He credits FDR and the New Deal with preventing his family from losing their farm and all their possessions.

Speaking of his meeting Senator Barack Obama, he said he never thought he would meet someone who was running for President of the United States.  ” And he is such a lovely person.  He’s the same in person as he is on TV.”
