Republican Vice Presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin was interviewed on CNN on October 21, 2008 by CNN correspondent Drew Griffin. See the full interview and photos here. Palin discussed a range of issues including her controversial “real America” remarks, Troopergate, her claims that Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama’s tax plan amounted to “redistribution of wealth;” in essence, socialism.
When asked if she would call Obama a socialist, Palin said,
I’m not gonna call him a socialist, but, as Joe the plumber had suggested, in fact he came right out and said it sounds like socialism to him and he speaks for so many Americans who are quite concerned now, after hearing finally what Barack Obama’s true intentions are with his tax and economic plan, and that is, to take more from small businesses, more from our families, and then redistribute that according to his priorities.

Regarding her controversial remarks about “real America” being small towns.
Palin also apologized Tuesday for any misunderstanding caused when she referred last week to the patriotic values of “the real America” and “pro-America areas of this great nation.”
Democrats and others criticized Palin for seeming to imply that some parts of the country are more patriotic than others.
Palin denied that was her intention in an interview with CNN on Tuesday.
“I don’t want that misunderstood,” Palin said. “If that’s the way it came across, I apologize.”
The Alaska governor made the remarks at a fundraising event in North Carolina last week.
“We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation,” she told the crowd.
