Tina Fey was on Late Show with David Letterman on October 17, 2008 and talked about her wildly successful appearances on Saturday Night Live as Republican VP candidate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

She explained in detail how she put together her hilarious and eerily accurate impression of Sarah Palin. “Not since Sling Blade has there been a voice that anybody could do,” she said. She said the accent was “a little bit Fargo…a little bit Reese Witherspoon in Election.” Transitioning to the Sarah Palin voice, she called it a “beautiful Alaskan wind song.”

Tina Fey also talked about her second appearance as Sarah Palin, spoofing the interview with CBS News anchor Katie Couric, which used some of Sarah Palin’s words verbatim. Fey said she looked up a video of the interview and realized the comedic potential as Sarah Palin “got lost in a corn maze” while trying to make a point about the economy and health care. ”

Tina Fey made her appearance the night before Sarah Palin’s highly anticipated appearance on Saturday Night Live, on October 18, with host Josh Brolin, star of Oliver Stone’s newly released movie about President George Bush, “W.” Fey said did not know if she would be joining Palin on the program.

No longer a cast member of SNL, Tina Fey is the creator and star of the NBC sitcom “30 Rock,” for which she won Emmys for Best Actress and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and the program won an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series “30 Rock” last month at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards 2008.
