Academy Award winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel on October 2, 2008. She was interviewed and she performied her hit single, “Spotlight,” from her self-titled debut album, released on September 30, 2008, in stores now.

In the interview Jennifer Hudson shared her excitement about the release of her debut album, which she said was 17 years in the making, alluding to her childhood aspirations. She said she was so excited she cried on the album’s release date and went to see it in the store.

She also discussed her most recent appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show which was broadcast that same day, October 2, 2008, with Alicia Keys Hudson, Queen Latifah, and Sophie Okonedo, co-stars in the upcoming movie, The Secret Life of Bees (in theaters October 17, 2008), and talked about the first time Oprah called her to congratulate her for her Oscar nomination for the 2006 movie Dreamgirls. Jennifer Hudson also talked her engagement to Harvard Law School grad David Otunga who is known to TV viewers as “Punk” in the reality show “I Love New York 2.”
