Video & Photos: Sarah Palin Interview with Sean Hannity on Hannity & Colmes 9-18-08 (Part 2)

Sarah Palin on Hannity & Colmes, September 17, 2008

Republican Vice Presidential candidate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was interviewed by Sean Hannity on Hannity & Colmes on Fox News.    Part 2 was broadcast on September 18, 2008.  Part 1 of the interview was broadcast on September 17, 2008.  Discussion ranged from foreign policy to Palin’s assessment of her rival, Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden to her parsing of the disparaging comments she made about Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama’s brief stint as a community organizer. She also addressed media criticism of her and the ongoing “Troopergate” investigation in Alaska.

[T]he Alaska governor told [Sean Hannity] that a Cold War with Russia is “off the table.”

In her first television interview with Charlie Gibson last week, Palin was asked if under the NATO treaty, would the United States have to go to war with Russia. She answered differently, “Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you’re going to be expected to be called upon and help.”

However, Palin acknowledged it is important to keep a close watch on Russia and both Iran and North Korea as well, “Any country that is going to house violent Islamic terrorists.  We have to keep our eye, of course, on Iran.  We’ve got to keep our eye on some of the ongoing activities in Russia,” Palin said. “North Korea under the leadership of Kim Jong-il — certainly there is a lot of concern there.”

Hannity also asked Palin to weigh in on her rival, Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate Joe Biden, she praised his experience, but was quick to point out their age difference, “Senator Biden has tremendous amount of experience. I think he was first elected when I was like in second grade. He’s been in there a long, long, long time. So he’s got the experience. He probably has the sound bites. He has the rhetoric. He knows what’s expected of him. He is a great debater, also. So yes, it’s going to be quite a task in front of me.”

[Palin] addresses the taunt she directed at Barack Obama’s background as a community organizer during her early moments on the national stage (all of a couple of weeks ago).

“I certainly didn’t mean to hurt his feelings,” she tells Hannity. “Didn’t mean to offend any community organizers either.”

She adds: “I do have respect for those who have chosen public service. What I was doing certainly, should be obvious, was direct a comment to him as he had taken a shot at small mayors across the nation.”
Palin was referring to Obama, back when he was more focused on the Republican vice presidential nominee then many Democrats thought he should have been, noting that as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, she had supervised fewer employees than he has in running a presidential campaign.
