R&B singer-songwriter Keri Hilson performed her new single “Energy” for the “Yahoo! Who’s Next” (New Now) series and was profiled in an interview.  “Energy” is the lead single from Keri Hilson’s forthcoming debut album, In a Perfect World… which will be released on November 4, 2008 (Zone 4, Mosley Music, Interscope).

In her interview, Keri Hilson talked about songwriting; she began at age 12, (inspired by watching TV programs such as “Showtime at the Apollo” and “Star Search”) and uses what she terms a “complex simplicity” approach to writing lyrics.   She talked about collaborating with Timbaland as well as some of the artists she has written songs for, notably, Mariah Carey, Sean Diddy Combs, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton and Ludacris.
