Beyoncé delivered a soul stirring tribute to legendary singer Etta James,  singing Etta James’ signature song “At Last” at Condé Nast Media Group’s 5th Annual Fashion Rocks 2008 concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on September 5, 2008 (broadcast on September 9, 2008).   Etta James was present at the performance, sitting in the front row, as Beyonce acknowledged her the end of the performance and she stood and received a standing ovation.

Beyonce portrays Etta James in the forthcoming movie, Cadillac Records, from director Darnell Martin. The movie, set in the 1950s, chronicles the life and times of legendary Chicago-based record-company executive Leonard Chess and stars Adrien Brody as Chess, Cedric the Entertainer as Willie Dixon, Mos Def as Chuck Berry, Columbus Short as Little Walter, Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters.

At Fashion Rocks 2008, Beyonce also teamed up with Justin Timberlake to perform a crowd pleasing cover of  “Ain’t Nothin’ Like The Real Thing.”

Fashion Rocks 2008  also included performances by Rihanna,  Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Chris Cornell, Duffy, Fergie, the Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock (with Lynyrd Skynyrd), Lil Wayne, OneRepublic, the Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Solange, Timbaland, and Keith Urban.  The concert proceeds will benefit Stand Up to Cancer.
