The world premiere of Guy Ritchie’s movie “RocknRolla” took place at the Odeon cinema, Leicester Square on September 1, 2008 in London, England. Madonna joined her husband Guy Ritchie on the red carpet, along with the movie’s stars, Thandie Newton and Gerard Butler. The movie will be released in theaters September 5, 2008 in the UK.

The singer, who is currently on tour in Europe, arrived at Leicester Square just minutes before gangster film Rocknrolla was shown.

Wearing a Stella McCartney dress, the singer walked arm-in-arm with Richie and posed for photographs.

Rocknrolla will be released in cinemas across the UK on 5 September.

Starring Thandi Newton and Gerard Butler, who were also at the premiere, the film is set in London’s criminal underworld and features Russian mobsters and property scams.

Ritchie said: “The film reflects the big guys and their big properties – they haven’t been touched by the credit crunch.”

The 39-year-old has once again written and directed the film, and will be hoping it receives a better critical reception than his last two efforts, the widely-panned Swept Away and Revolver.

However, he revealed on the red carpet that he had already written the sequel.

“If people go and see this and like it I’ll make the second one straight away,” he said.
