The Obama Family on the cover of People Magazine, August 2, 2008

The Obama family will be on the cover of the August 4, 2008 issue of People magazine and in a feature article and photo spread. It’s the first time that the entire family — Senator Barack Obama, wife Michelle Obama, and daughters Maia, 10, and Sasha, 7 — have been on the cover of a magazine; US Magazine cover did not feature the children.

There is no accompanying story to quote from presently, but we we found a July 8 story amusing and relevant.

Michelle Obama may be the high-profile wife of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, but it’s only recently that daughter Malia Ann started buying into the notion that mom’s a celebrity. So, what finally swayed the skeptical 10-year-old? Michelle Obama’s appearance in PEOPLE. “I’m like, ‘Oh Mommy! You’re in this!’ I’ve never seen Mommy in there,” Malia Ann tells Maria Menounos in this interview for Access Hollywood. “I usually see people like Angelina Jolie … real important people.”
