Whitney Houston’s performance on May 8, 2008 at the Caudwell Children Legends Ball in London has garnered rave reviews and generated excitement about the R&B and pop diva’s comeback.
Whitney Houston has taken another step in her comeback. The diva wowed the crowd when she performed Thursday at the Caudwell Children Legends Ball, at Battersea Park in London.
During her hour-long set, Houston “both looked and sounded amazing,” a guest tells PEOPLE. “She was fantastic.”
Houston, who is working on a new album with her old friend Clive Davis, sang hits, including, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “I Will Always Love You,” “The Greatest Love of All,” and “Saving All My Love for You.”
“It was like her greatest hits, only live,” adds the guest.
Houston, who has had a tumultuous custody battle with her ex-husband Bobby Brown, brought daughter Bobbi Kristina, 15, on stage and introduced her as “the love of my life.” The pair performed a duet of “My Love Is Your Love.”

As the Telegraph.co.uk reports,
John Caudwell, billionaire founder of the Phone4U empire, said it took a “great effort” to secure Houston’s appearance, but guests agreed it was worth it.
Hollywood legends Jane Russell and Mickey Rooney joined the likes of Joan Collins and Buzz Aldrin on the star-studded invite list.
Houston, 44, looked back to her best on stage in a black evening gown and diamonds.
David Gest, former husband of Liza Minnelli, paid his own tribute to the star by wearing a coat with Whitney’s image emblazoned on the back.

Houston was one of the biggest female music artists in the world, selling 100 million records, before drink and drug abuse almost ended her life.
She went public with her problems in 2002 and announced she was getting her life back on track. “I had a bad habit which can be broken. I’m not gonna tell you I’m somebody’s junkie. My business is sex, drugs, rock and roll, you know? But as you get older and you get wiser, you stop a lot of the kid stuff. Trust me. I partied my tail off. You get to a point where the party’s over.”
