Actress Elizabeth Hurley created a sensation back in 1994, at the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, when she wore a little black dress, designed by Versace, notable for being held together mainly with safety pins.

Now the dress is for sale, part of Harrod’s Timeless Luxury promotion.

As the Telegraph.co.uk reports:
“That dress”, as it became known by the world’s media, is part of an exhibition dedicated to “the little black dress” at the London store.
And it is not the only famous garment on show — the simple black shift worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1963 movie Charades is also on display, amid modern versions of the style staple.
Martin Buckley, the marketing manager at Harrods, said: “The little black dress is an institution we’re proud to pay homage to.
“As the Hepburn dress proved, however old the design, a little black dress will always be a stunning classic.”
The little black dress, LBD, is a classic, which Coco Chanel brought to life in 1926.

Previously, black was reserved for mourning, not everyday wear.
